By the time spring rolls around, the seedlings have developed into substantial fans with huge root systems. The advantage of tree pots is that the roots, as shown here, are “trained” to grow virtually straight down. Therefore, transplanting from tree pots is a much easier and efficient task because one does not have to cope with the snarled, Chinese puzzle root balls that develop in other style pots.
